Amazon’s Latest Idea: Shipping your goods, before you know you want them!

Amazon knows what you want. So well in fact, that they intend todownload start shipping before you even place your order. In December 2013, the Seattle-based retailer took out a patent on the idea of shipping out goods before an order has even been placed. Items will be shipped based on previous orders, viewing history and other factors.

The idea is to remove the fear of important deliveries arriving late due to being shipped from a distance, encouraging online shopping; specifically from Amazon whilst also discouraging them from visiting physical stores.

This new formula for predicting orders to be placed could significantly reduce delivery time and greatly increase customer satisfaction. In the patent document for this formula, Amazon speaks of the delay between buying and receiving an item online and how it “may dissuade customers from buying items from online merchants”. The patent implies that items could wait to be shipped from the shipper’s trucks or storage hubs.

The patent shows different ways of deciding which items to be shipped to where, using factors from your wish list and search history to your returns and even how long you hover your cursor over products you view. All this is in a direct effort to cut down on delivery needs and to become the leader in a growing trend among businesses; to identify and meet consumer needs before even the consumer themselves do.

Amazon have added next day delivery recently by expanding on their warehouse network and also, in 2013, announced that they would be using unmanned drones to ship out packages in order to decrease delivery time by taking small packages directly from warehouses to the consumer’s door. In the patent, Amazon create the idea of filling out partial addresses or ZIP Codes, and using this to keep the item closer to the potential purchaser, with the rest of the label being filled out in transit.

It is unclear whether or not this new delivery tactic has or will been deployed, as no further comment  has been made, but what it does is it shows just one way which Amazon is willing to manipulate their vast knowledge of their customers in order to leap ahead of competition.

However, the algorithms is not without flaws and in times of error the patent states that customers may be given discounts, or even receive the package as a gift in order to build strong customer-client relationships.

Avoid spelling and grammar mistakes. Even if you correct the mistakes your post may go viral prior to these amendments. If more people read the text before making it public, you decrease the chance of unwanted errors.

When creating content consider what questions you get asked the most frequently? Why not answer these questions in a blog post. Concentrate Software for Estate Agentson two or three questions per blog. For example, a plumber might get asked how to avoid frozen pipes. Providing relevant tips will keep your audience engaged.

Try to be honest when writing something. Blogging about some difficulties in the industry and how to overcome these makes you way more authentic.

If there are any major changes in your business sector, inform your customers about it, because that means you are well informed which could affect your business or even your customers.

Provide your readers with a Share button for Facebook, twitter and other social networks. People who like your blog should have the possibility to tell their friends about it, thus increasing traffic!!

Seeing the world through Google glasses

Google is well known for being a highly innovative and futuristic company, but with their latest invention they have even managed to outdo themselves.

Google have invented glasses with an included microphone and a half-transparent video screen, with which you can see all the information in front of your right eye.

The idea behind this wearable technology is to aid their users through their everyday lives. If you are bad at memorizing names or places, you can easily outsource it to the device. Handy eh?

These new glasses offer 14 services to choose from, information about daily meetings, the weather, as well as a navigation system. Moreover it seems to have also a music function although the missing earphones make us wonder how exactly it works. Calling somebody with a video function is another option as well as information about the latest offers which pop up immediately on your screen if you walk by a store.

So far, the Google glasses are still not fully developed and it is unclear when they will be released on the market, probably at the end of 2013. Google fans are asked for their feedback and creativity to ensure their participation in the design process.

Google`s latest innovation shows its users an augmented reality and they will now have more visible knowledge available at any time without having to use their hands. Apart from being constantly distracted like bumping into somebody on the street, privacy issues could keep you from getting that gadget. So the question remains, which of our private information will Google use again? As this product is not launched yet, we will see if Google keep their promises and manage their shortcomings.

Here at 4pm we would like to know what you think? Would you be a prospective customer?

Twitter For Auctioneers & Estate Agents

Twitter

First step is to create a Twitter account. Get a feel for Twitter browse around, check what other auctioneers and estate agents write. Since Twitter does not automatically show the pictures it is all about your wording. You have 140 characters for a Tweet and people can also favourite your Tweets or re-tweet them. Here are some 4pm tips for auctioneers and estate agents using Twitter.

1. Picture

When adding pictures 4pm suggest that you add a small description. If you see a link and don’t know what the picture is why would you comment on it?

2. Information

Supply the information possible customers need to reach you. 4pm also suggest having links to your webpage, Facebook and email.

3. Customer Service

Be careful what you answer and how you answer it. Our best advice would be to supply a number to call if it is directly related to business. If it is a friendly question make sure to give yourself a moment to think before you tweet back. Sometimes things get blown out of proportion on social media.

4.Custom Background

Get yourself a custom background for more free branding. This can be done by selecting ‘settings’ then ‘design’ and you can then upload headers, backgrounds and alter colours.

5. Blog

If you have a blog, install the Twitter plugin, this will allow your blog to post to Twitter automatically. The jet pack plugin allows you to upload to both Twitter and Facebook.

6. Headlines

Think of your tweets as newspaper headlines. You want to engage people with your text, must be interesting for people to notice. When putting it up think to yourself, would i re-tweet it, if the answer is no well don’t expect it to get retweeted.

8. Price

Don’t comment on the price a property may have sold for, the vendor or applicant may think they might have got more or less money, they don’t want everyone knowing their business.

9. Properties

How do you put up a property on twitter? You have very few words. Put up the main details, 4pm would suggest ‘looking for 3 bed detached house in Rathmines, Dublin 8? checkout out the link below’ as opposed to ‘3 bed in Rathmines’ which is boring. The first prompts them to question am i? Maybe I’m not but I know who may be, so I will click the link.

10. Trends

Look out for trends e.g. #Dublin, if you are about to put a property up that is in ‘Dublin’ take advantage of the trend. Trends help your tag get categorised and noticed by more people.

The above are some basic guidelines to get your Twitter account up and running. You may also find that it is hard to get followers, make sure to include your Twitter link in your signature. Follow competitors and they will follow you back, it also gives you a chance to see what way they are using Twitter. You can also check out our blog here.
